Winter is that season of the year when our skin can give us more problems due to the sudden change of temperatures and its sudden exposure to cold and heated places. That is why it is important to take care of it always, but in winter more than ever.

Moisturising is essential on a daily basis and several times a day, especially if you suffer from skin problems such as atopic dermatitis, dryness or irritation. Use specific products with moisturising agents such as lanolin, shea butter, urea or natural oils. If you have very sensitive or dry skin a nourishing mask once a week will suit it like a glove.

Don't forget to cleanse your skin as a fundamental step to keep it healthy, cared for and hydrated. Choose gentle cleansing products for this cold season that are not abrasive or excessively exfoliating to keep the skin's pH and protective barrier intact. When in doubt, choose products for sensitive skin formulated with ingredients that are less aggressive to the skin and that care for it more thoroughly.

Do not use excessively hot or cold water for your showers or facial cleansing, choose lukewarm water to avoid dehydration of the skin.

Hands and lips are two of the most affected by the cold. Never forget to protect them with barrier effect creams and balms.

Sun protection is essential throughout the year and of course also in winter. The colder temperatures can be misleading and make us not realise that the sun is still there, but its rays are harmful to the skin even on the cloudiest days. In addition, blemishes also continue to appear on the face in winter if you don't protect them from the sun.

Don't forget that proper nutrition is the basis for good skin and appearance from the inside out. Remember to hydrate yourself thoroughly by drinking water or herbal teas and follow a healthy, balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, which provide antioxidants, vitamins and extra water thanks to the properties of these foods. Increase your vitamin C intake and avoid alcohol and tobacco.

Remember to include these tips in your daily routine to get through this winter with flying colours in terms of skin care and when spring arrives, you will not have noticed its ravages and will put into practice the specific care for the new season.
