Experts have always said that the skin around our eyes is very thin and therefore prone to wrinkles. Is an eye cream necessary? Here we'll answer some of the most frequently asked questions about eye creams, including how to choose the right one for you.

Eye cream is essential, whatever your age

What do you think are the top skin concerns for men and women, especially in their late 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond? In my opinion, dryness, fine lines and wrinkles are at the top of the list, along with dark circles and bags under the eyes.

Shockingly, however, many people tend to skip eye cream and seem to have no idea that having a firm point in your skincare routine is very important if you want to achieve a healthy and youthful appearance.

What is an eye cream?

Since the skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of the skin on the face, the eye cream is specially formulated to be extra gentle and softening for the sensitive skin around the eyes.

These gentle products are often designed to blur the appearance of dark circles and eye puffiness, reduce puffiness, fill fine lines, and hydrate and plump the skin under the eyes.

At what age should you start using eye cream?

Many people start using eye cream in their 30s, but the best answer is, the sooner the better. Our skin begins to age in our mid-20s, but we don't notice the signs of ageing until our 30s or 40s.

Eye cream is more of a preventive treatment - remember that the best results come from prevention. Don't wait to notice wrinkles, puffiness or dark circles under your eyes, start using a cream now before you regret it.

What ingredients should you look for in your eye cream?

  • Hyaluronic acid

  • Retinol

  • Neuropeptides

  • Vitamins C, E, K

  • Acetyl hexapeptide (Argireline)

  • Caffeine

  • Green tea

  • Niacinamide

  • Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs)

  • Ceramides

  • Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

  • Alpha lipoic acid

  • Kojic acid

  • Ginseng

How to apply eye cream?

ree

Apply a pea-sized amount around both eyes using your ring fingers, which are less forceful than your first or second finger and exert gentler pressure on the skin. Do not swipe or rub, but lightly pat product into skin.

Wait until the product is completely absorbed before applying subsequent products, e.g. SPF, primer, foundation. You can apply the eye cream twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

Cucumber

Cucumber contains flavonoids and antioxidants which decrease redness, swelling and irritation, therefore reducing the appearance of puffy eyes. It also helps lightening the dark circles. Moreover, due to the Vitamin C ingredient it makes your eyes look and feel refreshed.

Plant Stem Cells

They promote the production of new collagen which make the skin look younger and better defend itself against environmental aggressors. Most regular skin care products are not able to penetrate into a deeper level but Plant Stem Cells repair the skin on a cellular level to eliminate wrinkles.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid improves skin hydration and production of collagen, fights free radicals, maintains skin elasticity, and even has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. It can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, keeping the skin looking youthful and radiant.

Caffeine

Caffeine has anti-inflammatory effects which helps reduce puffiness and it also eliminates dark circles by helping the microcirculation of blood in the skin. Applying coffee directly to the skin helps decrease fine lines.
