At Diana Beauty, we support women and wish to empower them. Thus, we believed it was important to address this month issue about Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. It represents about 25% of all cancers in women. But did you know that over a quarter of cases are preventable?
What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
It is an annual communication campaign designed to raise awareness about breast cancer screening by informing, dialoguing and mobilizing, as well as to raise funds for research. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is also there to remind women (and men) that monthly breast cancer exams should be a regular part of one's self-care. In order to reduce the number of people experiencing the devastating impact this disease has on people’s lives.
How can I contribute to it?

Make a donation
Donating to associations supporting breast cancer screening, access & treatment can help a lot of women and men suffering from the disease. There are different associations you can donate to depending on your country. For the UK you can, for example, donate to Breast Cancer UK, Cancer Research UK or your local association.
Educate yourself
Make a profit of this month to learn more about breast cancer and how you can prevent and detect it. This might help you and your surroundings in the future and is always good knowledge to take.
Support your local association
You can volunteer in an association near your home, to bring light and encouragement to others as they journey through new and challenging paths.
Spread Awareness
Wearing a pink ribbon, sharing your story or the one of someone else with breast cancer, sharing information and tips about the disease to make more people aware of it, is of great help.
What can I do to prevent myself from having breast cancer and how can I detect it?
It is stated that one in seven women are likely to get breast cancer in their life. However, you could significantly reduce your risk of being that one woman, studies suggest, by making changes to your lifestyle
To prevent it
Your lifestyle can affect and increase your risk of breast cancer. For instance, women a with higher risk of developing breast cancer are obese women. That is why maintaining a healthy routine with a healthy diet and exercising is important and it can help you lower your risk of having breast cancer.
Alcohol is also a factor of risk. Drinking too much alcohol, such as two or more drinks every day, as well as binge drinking can boost your risk. A study stated that even a single glass every day could increase your risk of breast cancer.
If you aren’t sure if your lifestyle is healthy, it is recommended to talk to a professional who is going to help you on the matter.
To detect it
According to Cancer Research UK, the first symptom of breast cancer most people notice is a lump in their breast or some thickening.
These are the symptoms you should look out for:
a new lump or thickening in your breast or armpit
a change in size, shape or feel of your breast
skin changes in the breast such as puckering, dimpling, a rash or redness of the skin
fluid leaking from the nipple in a woman who isn’t pregnant or breastfeeding
changes in the position of the nipple
For more information and details do not hesitate to visit the Cancer Research UK website: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/breast-cancer which will provide you with a lot more information about this disease.

Even if for several decades important progress has been made in medical research or for the quality of life of patients, it is essential today to continue the fight against this disease and likewise to continue to spread awareness.
Thereby don’t hesitate to share this blog post to your surroundings and loved ones
