One of our main ingredients in our revitalizing eye cream is caffeine.

Caffeine has a lot of benefits for skin due to its very particular composition. It is an ingredient that you can find not only in cosmetic products but in your everyday life, like in the coffee you drink in the morning. It has a long story, from its discovery to its power.

History

Caffeine was discovered in 1819 by the German chemist Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge, who named this ingredient “Kaffein”. Caffeine is present in coffee, tea, cocoa beans, yerba mates but also in around sixty other plant species. Caffeine has a long history. Indeed, its diffusion goes back to the sixth century when people were already cultivating coffee in Arabic countries and in Turkey. Coffee spread in Europe through trades and started to be famous in the seventeenth century. During the twentieth century coffee culture was the biggest market of the world in terms of plant culture.

Benefits on the body

Caffeine stimulates cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems. It contributes to bringing us energy naturally. This is why, for example, some people feel the urge and necessity to have a cup of coffee in the morning, to feel the stimulation in their body and get the energy coffee can bring thanks to its composition. However, we certainly don’t recommend you to have an excessive consumption of caffeine because too much caffeine can bring danger to your health.

Also, as another example, caffeine prevents much more the fall of your hair as it boosts your scalp and makes it stronger.

Benefits on your skin

  • Caffeine is a strong antioxidant. Indeed, it eliminates old cells and acts as an anti-aging effect. If you apply on your skin a product composed with caffeine you will see better results in terms of reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Caffeine also decreases puffiness as it boosts blood circulation in the body, allowing your skin to get a better glowing effect. For an even better result we recommend you, when applying eye cream composed with caffeine, to massage or lightly tap under your eyes in order to decongest your eye area and reduce bags under your eyes.

  • Some species of caffeine also contribute to dissolving cellulite.

  • Caffeine acts like an anti-redness by diminishing the appearance of blood vessels. As we said before, caffeine stimulates blood circulation, so blood vessels have less time to stick at a certain spot of your skin and appear.

Prevention

Even if caffeine is very important for your skin and can bring you a lot of benefits, it is still an ingredient that can be toxic to your health when it is used too often or in too big quantities.

Among its side effects on your skin, we can quote the redness of the skin due to too much caffeine in the blood if the ingredient is not correctly dosed in the skincare products you use.

It is strongly recommended to use caffeine, already correctly dosed, mixed with other ingredients in order to counterattack the effects it can have when it is the only ingredient.

Overall, caffeine remains a very popular ingredient in skincare products and we can understand why when we see all the benefits it can have on the skin and the body.

Even if caffeine is to be taken with caution, we can assure you that in our revitalizing eye cream the amount of caffeine is strictly controlled in order to offer you the best benefits of this ingredient. So don’t worry and if you still have not tried it yet, why don’t you give our eye cream a try and purchase it on Amazon (available on Amazon IT, UK and FR).
