As with all beauty products, it is important to know your skin and choose your make-up remover accordingly. This will avoid accentuating your skin problems, and adequately treat existing problems.

First of all, how important is it to remove make-up?

It is an essential step in keeping the skin clear and preventing the development of imperfections. Indeed, throughout the day, impurities settle and develop on the skin, creating an excess of sebum that settles on the face.

Leaving make-up on for too long dries out the skin, prevents it from breathing and therefore causes accelerated skin ageing.

The ideal moment is just before nightfall, the skin has been attacked all day, so it is important to take care of your skin.

It is up to each of us to choose our own make-up remover, depending on our skin type and preferences. Whatever product you choose, it must respect the natural functioning of your skin, which creates a hydrolipidic filter that protects the epidermis.

For dry skin

When you have dry skin, it is better to choose a cleansing milk with a rich texture, loaded with lipidic active ingredients such as shea butter or glycerine. These ingredients moisturise and nourish the skin in depth. However, not all milks are good for you. Those that contain parabens and phenoxyethanol should be discarded. The pH should be neutral (about 5.5).

For this same type of skin, it is better to avoid using make-up remover that requires rinsing with water, such as oils for example. Water, loaded with calcium, dries out and weakens the skin. Milks and creams rich in moisturising agents are the best make-up removers to choose.

To avoid a greasy feeling, remove excess product with a cotton pad soaked in lotion. A thermal or floral water can be a good lotion for your skin.

Make-up removal should be done without rubbing, so using your fingers (after washing your hands) to apply make-up remover to damp skin will leave your skin feeling clean and clear. Circular movements are also preferable.

Micellar water is also suitable for this type of skin. Laboratories have worked on new formulations that combine the cleansing power of micelles with the power of moisturising agents such as glycerine. Ideal for removing make-up from dry skin while protecting it.

For combination and oily skin

For oily skin, a micellar water is recommended. It will remove excess sebum by removing the oily film and leaving a fresh sensation on the skin.

Comedogenic products should be avoided. It is important to be gentle so as not to strip the skin and create the opposite effect to what we want. By strongly cleansing the skin with a micellar water, the skin will feel aggressive and secrete more sebum.

In the evening, oily and combination skin needs freshness. It is therefore necessary to use purifying products that will deeply cleanse the skin. Choose a make-up remover in gel or foam form: they tone and purify the skin, while leaving it smooth and supple. Be careful that they are not abrasive and do not disturb the skin's balance.

After make-up removal, a moisturising fluid is always applied.

You can also opt for a product that can be rinsed off with cold water, which will give you a touch of freshness and reactivate the microcirculation to obtain a radiant complexion. In all cases, make sure you choose gentle, pH-neutral products that are effective without rubbing: if you attack the skin, it risks producing excess sebum.

For normal skin

They are the perfect skins. They can do anything, depending on what you prefer in terms of texture and feel. However, make sure that you always choose products that are gentle and do not attack your skin.

For reactive skin

Gentleness is the key to this type of skin. Dermatological cleansing bar or dermo-cleanser should be used. This avoids irritating products such as essential oils, perfume etc.

Cotton favours redness and irritation, so it is better to use the make-up remover with the finger. The gesture is very important. The face should be massaged gently without rubbing.

Then take a handkerchief, fold it in half and pat it onto the skin to remove the excess product.

Thermal water can be a good end to your make-up removal.
